christmas wreath workshop - the flower shop osset

christmas wreath making workshop the flower shop osset yorkshire sculpture park christmas decoration homemade christmas Scandinavian christmas nordic christmas

on sunday i attended a workshop at yorkshire sculpture park with the flower shop, to make my own christmas wreath.

having zero flower arranging experience, and being not really the most crafty of people – i was slightly anxious about being able to achieve my perfect pintrest-worthy wreath, but faye from the flower shop really helped put me at ease!

we had a bunch of different foliage available to construct our wreaths, i wanted to go with a really nordic/scandinavian style – so selected ivy, pine and spruce leaves, with some pine cones to decorate.

we created our wreaths with a moss base and wire, and that’s really it! it was super easy, and really therapeutic  - once i let myself go and just let the wreath come together naturally.

i am literally obsessed with my wreath, and even nearly did a happy sob when i hung it on my front door! christmas really is my favourite time of year, as i love going home and seeing my family! i am already planning my next wreath for 2017, and debating making them for friends and family - id love to incorporate some mistletoe and eucalyptus.

don't be a square

halloween, pulp fiction, mia wallace, night out, october, fancy dress, cosplay, halloween, pulp fiction, mia wallace, night out, october, fancy dress, cosplay,

this halloween will be my first one out with my friends from home in years, and i am so excited! we're heading out for drinks at a house party, a few bars in town and then onto a soul night at the brickyard, which is a place i used to frequent when i was about 16/17!

my last halloween night out was about 4 years ago, and i went as one of the silent hill nurses. this year i have decided to go as mia wallace from pulp fiction - and i am a little bit obsessed with this look!

a few weeks ago i was lucky enough to head out to cape town again for the ss17 photoshoot. it was my third visit to the beautiful cape, and was a completely different experience this time, i felt more relaxed and completely at home (there were tears when i was on my return flight!). i have all fingers crossed that i will be heading out again in april for the aw17 photoshoot, and hoping that i get the OK to fly out a few days earlier so i can have a little holiday and an explore!

i took along my new olympus om-de m10 for the trip (all photos have had the hypebeast visco cam filter applied). we were lucky enough to shoot in 3 beautiful houses, along with exploring the silvermine national park for the second part of the shoot. the weather was just picking up as they head into their summer over there, and it was so nice to feel the warmth on my skin.

birmingham staycation - air bnb

air bnb, birmingham nec, nec, national exhibition centre, uk, staycation, travel, uk holiday, vacation, holiday, trip, supreme cat show, gccf, show cat,

last weekend coco, lexie and myself attended the supreme cat show at birmingham NEC. the supreme cat show is basically the feline version of crufts, and with the set up being on the friday before, i make the effort to go and stay over to save on the travel.

i had originally booked a hotel for the weekend, but decided to try out air bnb for the first time, as i'd heard about and seen some amazing properties on social media. i managed to find 'the upper mews' just 30 mins away from the NEC, which is perfect to get out of the city centre for a quiet nights sleep, and at £30 a night, the perfect price.

the photographs really didn't do the property justice, it was spacious and lovely and warm and cosy. sarah and martin had left a little breakfast basket of bread, jams and juice for the morning and some prosecco.

if you would like to book your first air bnb, you can use my link to receive free credit towards you first stay - www.airbnb.co.uk/c/jspence155

south africa dreamin'

south africa, work trip, travel, marketing, product, babywear, fashion, photoshoot, experience, animals, tv, film, cape town, lions, cheetahs,

last September i got the amazing opportunity to travel to South Africa to work on our autumn winter 2016 campaign photoshoot. i have to admit, the first trip in April last year was a really overwhelming experience, as someone who had never traveled abroad before, the idea of being in a whole different country really did blow my mind! i spent about 70% of the trip just looking round completely bemused that i was in a whole different place - it sounds crazy i know, but it was such a flip on the way of life here in the UK.

during the september trip, i was able to relax more and focus on my work. the crew we work with out there are amazing and such a breath of fresh air! i really was able to take in the experience as a whole and got so, so much out of it!

at the end of the trip, as a special treat on our last day in cape town, we were able to visit a farm owned by a man called luke. there he has animals he has rescued from the trophy trade, or taken in from inexperienced people who have tried to keep them as pets, he provides them with enrichment and special enclosures and trains them to be used in the film and tv industry. he had acres and acres of land with baboons, wild cats, dogs, hyenas, zebra, water buffalo and lions, it was such an amazing sight to see these animals up close!

it has been one of my dreams since i was really little (growing up watching the really wild show and collecting tokens from the daily mail to buy special posters of big cats, to decorate my jungle themed room) to be able to hold and meet a cheetah and cheetah cub, it was just the most amazing experience to be able to do this on my trip to luke's farm. he had two adult female cheetahs and one adult male, called rocket. rocket was a rescue from the trophy trade, as he did not grow to 'trophy size', so luke gave him a loving home. he also had two cheetah cub females, who were adorable! and so so naughty.

i'm heading back to cape town in october and i cannot wait, it is amazing to be able to get the experience to travel abroad to work on the photoshoots and i just love to work, it really gives me so much joy. i'm hoping to take my new camera with me, to take some amazing shots of the locations and landscape as were travelling around.

oily skin overhaul!

lush, blogger, beauty, oil, oily skin, skin regime, self care, skincare, body shop, the body shop, cruelty free cosmetics, womens cosmetics, health, wellbeing, beauty, moisturise, cleanse, tone, bath, toiletries, coalface, charcoal, ultrabland, tea tree, seaweed, vanishing cream, enzyme, toner water,
lush and the body shop - oily skin remedies

i've been struggling with my skin for as long as i can remember, but for the the past two months in particular, despite now drinking between 2L and 3L of water a day, my T zone, nose and chin have gone into serious oil overdrive!

i had started using the liz earle hot cloth cleanse range, with the toning water - and found it did improve my skins balance, however to try and keep on top of cleaning the muslin cloths, i found it quite a chore, and using not a fresh muslin each time really didn't help in keeping my hormonal breakouts under control!

after browsing online at all the big beauty brand names - clarins, clinique, kiehl's - a friend recommended lush - a brand who i will be honest, i have never considered for anything else other than bath bombs!

i decided to visit the leeds white rose center store with one product in mind in particular which had been recommended to me - coal face - but i was looking to replace my current cleanse, tone and moisturise routine, with more natural products, with no nasties in them!

what i find in my spare room - part 1

nike, patta, air max, air max 1, crepe city, trainers, trainer collection, streetwear, sportwear,
nike x patta air max 1 - denim cord

okay, so this has become kind of a weekly feature on my instagram account - what i find in my spare room. basically, i moved house 3 times last year, THREE TIMES - so in the process of starting new jobs and moving into a new places - my extensive trainer collection has been somewhat forgotten about (working in babywear is so different from working in sportswear!)

every week i like to pop into my spare room, which is still awaiting a much needed coat of paint and the guest bed putting in, to see what trainer gems i have waiting on ice, for the summer weather to come back!

first up on this feature is my pair of nike x patta air max 1 'denim cord'. i picked these up for an amazing £90 at the second crepe city event, what a find!! they are a pair which i never thought i would own, and certainly not for that price.

march favourites

march is one of my favourite months because it's my birthday - yay! its also the month that british summer time begins (apparently). it's been rather a gloomy few months since christmas - so i think my instagram account is beginning to reflect that! here are a few of my favourite shots of my favourite things this month so far.

ray ban's forever - glasses direct

i've never been one to purchase frames directly from a high street store. i find that they add on so much extra to the costs, to obviously make it worth their while. i bought my last ray ban wayfarer havana frames from an online store called 'valley optics' which has since gone MIA, so i was on the hunt for a new stockist!

i came across glasses direct, after seeing their adverts online, after an extensive search for ray ban frames at a reasonable price! i ordered a pair of ray ban clubmaster frames and selected the silver package for my lenses (anti-glare and scratch resistant), which came to a total of £111. i managed to find a discount code online, which took my order down to £97 which is a massive difference from the £160 frame only deal i found at boots and specsavers!

my order came within 3 working days, and was sent recorded next day delivery - due to the frame value. if you are not one for designer frames, glasses direct have some amazing like for like frames, which are currently on a 2 for 1 offer, on frames £55 and up.

liz earle - naturally active skincare

liz earle, skin care, skincare, essentials, beauty, reviews, clinque, health, beauty, wellbeing, skin repair, tonic, cleanse , tone, moisturise,

so, at the age of 24 and a lifetime of a quick makeup wipe at the end of the day and my old faithful clean and clear black head scrub routine, i have decided that it is time to begin taking care of my skin.

i recently invested in the clinque 3 step routine for oily and combination skin. after using the product for two weeks (it does say on the packet to allow 10 days, and that your skin will get a whole lot worse before it gets better!) my skin wasn't improving at all, only getting drier, itchy and i was having the worst breakout ever!

kaws x yorkshire sculpture park

kaws, yorkshire sculpture park, ysp, yorkshire, art, gallery, exhibition, yorkshire park, artists, brooklyn, american, first show,

on the morning of KAWS first UK exhibition, i headed to yorkshire sculpture park bright and early, for the #instameet in celebration of the opening.

the exhibition consisted of his most famous and loved sculptures (accomplice, companion, dissected and warm regards  to name a few) alongside bright graphic canvases. this was the first time all the sculptures had been in the same room, and space as eachother, and the impact they brought to the room was indescribable.

the exhibition is on until 12th june, for more information visit  - http://www.ysp.co.uk/exhibitions/kaws

shore projects x merino wool straps

shore projects, merino wool, new straps, watches, watch straps, accsessories, womens accessories, fashion, watch brand, daily watches, british fashion, british brand, british seaside, british brand shore projects have released their 7th collection of interchangeable straps, this time in gorgeously soft merino wool.

available in four rich colours; grey, navy, brown and burgundy, the merino straps are priced at a very reasonable £30, and are available online now.

as a follower of the brand since the very beginning, i have loved watching them grow. their clever use of a mixture of fabrics and textures really keeps the brand fresh, and helps to revamp your favourite watch time and time again.

my favourite of the 4 strap colours has to be grey (no surprise there as a lover of monochrome!) i've made up my four favourite combinations below - i think next i would love to see a wool herringbone patterned strap.
