so, at the age of 24 and a lifetime of a quick makeup wipe at the end of the day and my old faithful clean and clear black head scrub routine, i have decided that it is time to begin taking care of my skin.

i recently invested in the clinque 3 step routine for oily and combination skin. after using the product for two weeks (it does say on the packet to allow 10 days, and that your skin will get a whole lot worse before it gets better!) my skin wasn't improving at all, only getting drier, itchy and i was having the worst breakout ever!

after reading a lot of reviews online, and the recommendation from friends who were all different ages and skin types, i switched up my routine for the liz earle skincare essentials routine, which includes a hot cloth cleanser, instant boost skin tonic and a lightweight moisturiser. my order also came with a freebie of some shampoo (which i can't wait to try) and soothing night serum.

i ordered direct from liz earle online, and the whole set came to a very reasonable £45. the order arrived within 3 working days, with free postage and was packaged up so nicely it really made the order feel special.

the hot cloth cleanser is completely different to anything i have used before. you apply it onto dry skin, (after removing your make up) and massage in, before removing with a hot damp muslin cloth - to 'polish' the cream from your face. it's become something of a challenge for me to then not go on and exfoliate after this step, but my face does feel super smooth and clean after using the cleanser. so it's doing its job!

you then apply a generous amount of the toner onto a cotton bud, and smooth over skin - before following with the lightweight moisturiser when required. this final step again is taking some getting used to, as i suffer with an oily t-zone and chin, it sends alarm bells ringing thinking to apply moisturiser, but the liz earle skin repair light moisturiser goes on great, and doesn't leave me feeling like my pores are blocked. it's also important to give your skin back some moisture after all that cleansing and polishing!

so far i'm on week 2 of my new routine, and my skin does feel better - but i do hope that my t-zone improves further. the products themselves smell incredible, and have a fresh, clean smell, rather than perfumed. i would 100% recommend this to any skincare newbies, or people looking to alter their routine.
